Football season may be over now, but for our winter athletes, the sports season is in full swing. There is quite a lot of excitement right now for the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, which is why we are offering plenty of unique souvenirs, gift frames, and custom frames in themes like hockey, figure skating, or basically any type of winter sport frame you can think of!
Of course, while we as spectators get excited over seeing our favorite athletes, we couldn’t help but wonder what type of game-day superstitions athletes have that help with their nerves. Here are a few of the surprising superstitions that some of the world’s most famous athletes have!

  1. The one and only Michael Jordan used to always wear his practice shorts from college underneath his Chicago Bulls uniform
  2. Tiger Woods is well known for wearing his signature red shirt on Sundays.
  3. Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps is known for blasting music in his headphones, then, once on the starting block, swinging his arms exactly three times before the start of a race.
  4. Serena Williams has a few different rituals before a match. She ties her shoes a special way, brings her shower sandals to the court, and bounces the ball a specific number of times before serves. She also has worn the same pair of socks throughout tournaments.
  5. Turk Wendell of the New York Mets always chewed black licorice while pitching and always brushed his teeth between innings.
  6. Brian Urlacher, former linebacker for the Bears, always ate two chocolate chip cookies before every game.

Regardless of their superstitions, we love our athletes! And don’t forget about your little athletes too – our personalized frames make for great gifts for your kids’ teams and coaches.
