Picture frame containing photo of two sisters
Each photo tells a unique story about a person, time period, or special moment in our lives that we’d like to cherish and remember often. At GiftWorksPlus, we appreciate the value behind each photo, which is why we’ve dedicated ourselves to creating custom frames in a variety of styles and themes that celebrate these memories—whether it’s your wedding day, graduation, or family vacation—and our personalized frames are built with longevity in mind to protect these captured moments from natural wear and tear.
Although framing a photo is the best way to prolong its lifespan, we wanted to share some other techniques that may prevent your precious photos (and frames) from fading or becoming tarnished.
Avoid Sunlight:
Like your skin, having too much UV rays can be harmful, especially to the quality of your photographs. So, after framing your photo, be sure to display it somewhere that’s far from natural sunlight, as it can cause fading and discoloration to your photo.
Frame, Don’t Stack:
Whether they’re recent or older photos, stacking them on top of each other will damage them. The photos may stick together, and you’ll risk removing ink from them, or worse, ripping the photo paper altogether. This is where custom framing comes in handy.
Keep Your Picture Frames Clean:
You’ll want to dust your frames regularly. Whether it’s a wood frame or metal frame, you’ll need to decide which cleaning product is best to use. To avoid scratching the glass or picture frame, always lay your frame on something soft. Remember to use a cloth to clean the frame instead of paper towel. Not only is this better for the environment, but it also lessens your chances of scratching the glass. A feather duster to whisk the dirt away is another great option.
