If photographers aren’t careful, hot weather can damage their expensive camera gear. Follow these tips to keep your camera safe when temperatures rise:
Watch out for condensation:

1.) Humid weather can be the most harmful type of heat for your camera because it causes condensation on and inside your camera.

2. ) Condensation can fog up your lens and prevent clear pictures, cause short circuits and unexpected shutdowns, and may leave mildew and fungus which can’t be removed.

3.) Avoid condensation by letting the temperature rise gradually instead of moving back and forth between cool air conditioning and the heat outdoors.

4.) If condensation does occur, be sure to dry it off immediately with a soft, dry cloth.

Keep your camera cool:

1.) Make sure you don’t overheat your camera. Instead, only use your camera when needed.

2.) Turn your camera’s auto power-off setting to a shorter interval that way it shuts off and cools down while the camera’s not in use.

3.) When you’re not using the camera be sure to cover it up with a dry towel. Since most cameras are black, they’re constantly absorbing heat. By covering up your camera with a lighter-color towel, you can help keep some of the heat away.

Store your camera properly:

1.) Keep your camera safe in camera-dry cabinets. Most of these cabinets come with hygrometers that monitor the interior humidity.

2.) If you can’t afford a cabinet, use silica gel packets to soak up the excess moisture.

3.) Be sure to store your batteries separately to prevent corrosion.
