Whether you’re local to Wisconsin or not, this is the perfect weekend getaway spot! Lake Geneva is surrounded by beautiful hills covered in trees that offer stunning views of the changing leaves. It also offers 21 miles of lakeshore walking paths as well as plenty of activities, restaurants, and breweries. It's a must-see destination!

Mackinac Island, MI

There is truly no place like Mackinac Island. Absolutely ideal for history buffs, nature lovers, and outdoor enthusiasts. Visit the military forts for a trip back in time, go sailing on a sunny fall day, and view the picturesque Victorian architecture among the colorful fall leaves.  

North Shore, MN

Minnesotans know that the North Shore is top of the list for anyone that loves hiking, canoeing, biking, or can appreciate a stunning view of nature. With glorious cliffs topped with lighthouses above Lake Superior, you’ll definitely want to bring your camera on this vacation!

Chicago, IL

Who said you can’t see beautiful fall foliage in the city? You may be surprised to see Chicago on our list but hear us out! Timeout Magazine lists plenty of fabulous places to see the leaves even in the heart of the city. The Chicago Botanic Garden features Japanese Maples, Winnemac Park offers 40 acres of green space, and of course Lincoln Park allows for both leaves- and people-watching! 

Black Hills and Badlands, SD

We recommend the Black Hills and Badlands so often in our travel blogs, but for good reason! Fall is the perfect time to visit because you’ll miss out on blistering heat, heavy crowds, and you’ll get to see views of the changing leaves against an already stunning landscape.
